28th November - The last few weeks have seen my designing my last main production at my school. Romeo and Juliet is probably my favourite ever theatrical design that I have done - the colours I could use, the magic of Shakespeare all let to a very succesful (albeit long) production.
21st August - I have just come back from the Red Bull X-Fighters in London for the second year running. Paul Cook once again created a fantastic design for the show and I was able to be a part of it, getting very hands-on with the gear and catching up with all the guys. Dominic Main, Paul's operator provided me with some great career and technical advice and I look forward to working with them both in future!
24th July - This month has seen me managing 5 events in the space of 3 weeks. I have been working flat out and the shows ended up running quite smoothly. My school has just invested in 10 new lanterns so we have a system that is full to capacity. New challenges have arisen such as circuit loading and pre-warming of fixtures. The next few weeks off are very welcome!!
10th April - 2010 has proved to be a slow one. I lit a music concert last month using a brand new Zero88 Leap Frog desk which my school purchased on me and my crew's recommendation. The concert went well despite a big lack of rehearsal time and pre-production work.
3rd May - I have now been promoted to Technical Director for my school's crew. This now means I am running the technical aspects of shows and the various teams alongside our professionally hired technical/production guru.
24th May - Last week my WYSIWYG Perform Student Edition dongle arrived all the way from Canada. I have been fortunate enough to see WYG in action on a few occasions now on some major events and productions and can really see how it will help me teach myself things about lighting I simply couldn't learn in a classroom.
